Comprehensive Insurance

While we pledge our greatest care and expertise, occasionally accidents can occur. A relatively small investment in insurance will guarantee your valuable and personal possessions are covered for damage throughout your move. The benefits of insurance, and the peace of mind that it provides means its inclusion is always recommended.

What type of cover is it?

Our policy extends the limited liability of standard British Association of Removers terms and conditions to protect you against the risks of accidents and/or events outside of our control.

If you take out our insurance you are covered for the declared value of your belongings and will not be required to prove negligence to make a claim.

We have a dedicated in house Quality Coordinator to assist you in the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim.

What am I covered for?

As Standard our insurance provides coverage whilst your belongings are in our care and control for the following subject to the full terms and conditions provided with your quotation.

• Professionally packed goods (where Bournes crew pack items) are covered for all risks of physical loss or damage.

• Owner packed goods are covered for all physical loss/damage excluding breakage, scratching, denting, chipping and tearing unless directly caused by fire or collision as we cannot determine condition of goods prior to the move. This excludes claims for missing items unless an itemised inventory is provided prior to the move.

• Covers the value of your goods as declared on your acceptance form up to £50,000 (unless higher value requested, see optional upgrades).

• Indemnity cover provides Repair, Replacement (taking into account age, quality, degree of use and consequent market value - unless New for Old upgrade selected, see below) or Compensation (determined by the insurer).

Optional Upgrades:

For customers with requirements above our standard level of cover we provide the following upgrades for an additional premium to address particular areas you may be concerned about.

• New for Old replacement cover - in the case of total loss/damage beyond repair the settlement will be for the cost to replace item as new.

• Pairs and Sets cover - as standard insurance covers the value of the damaged item only, this extensions also provides cover for the devaluing of the pair/set as a result of the damage.

• Extend value of goods covered - if your total value of belongings exceeds £50,000 we can provide an extension to cover the higher value.

Storage Insurance

 If any part of your move requires your belongings to be stored with us we provide the option to extend your policy to cover against risk of fire whilst your items are in store.
