How soon should I contact a removal company? It's never too early to start looking at which company you will use to move your belongings as there can be a lot to think about. It is never too early to contact us for information and advice, we would recommend contacting us approximately 3-4 weeks before your move date to arrange a pre move survey and a free quotation, but don't worry if you don't have that long, our flexible resources allow us to easily assist with short notice moves. How much will my removal cost? The cost is based on a number of factors including the overall volume of your belongings to be moved, usually in cubic feet, the access at both properties, the distance you are moving and the service elements you select i.e. full or part packing, handyman services, dismantling of items Our Move Consultants are expertly trained in accurately assessing the volume of your goods at the pre move survey stage so you can be confident that your quotation will accurately reflect this. What about packing and unpacking? We offer a full service including packing and unpacking of all your items. You may be able to choose to do part or all of your packing yourselves should you wish to do so. Can I pack my own belongings? Yes, we are happy to provide you with a quotation that allows for you packing your items yourself and to provide you with packing materials delivered in advance of your move date. Can you move my car? Yes! Using specially designed ramps we can load your car within our vehicles for transportation to your new home. How do I arrange a pre move survey? Just give us a call on 0845 070 2007 and we will arrange a survey for a mutually convenient date and time. Alternatively you can book a move survey online. Do I need a pre move survey? It is normal practice for a Move Consultant to visit your home to accurately assess the volume of goods to be moved and discuss your specific move requirements. This visit also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and find out a little bit more about what your move involves. If however you only have a small quantity of goods to be moved or do not have the time for a survey we are able to send you a self survey form for you to complete and email back to us. We can then calculate your quotation and move plan based on the information you supply. What happens after the survey? The Move Consultant will send the information immediately to your Move Manager who will create your individual move plan and produce your free no obligation quotation. They will then send this to you for your perusal. Please do not hesitate to contact your move manager to discuss any aspect of your quote, they will be happy to go over this with you. If you are happy with the quote just sign and return the acceptance form. If you know your move date already just give us a call and we will book the date for you, if you don't know yet don't worry, just let us know when you do. Can you take items from the loft? Yes but for health and safety reasons we can only do so providing the loft is properly boarded and there is a suitable loft ladder and lighting fitted. How much notice do I need to give to book my removal? Try to give us as much notice as possible, so let us know when you know! But don't worry, we understand the complications with putting a date to moving house and our extensive resources allow us to be flexible to your needs - just give us a call and keep us up to date and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. When do you require payment? We will require payment in clear funds a minimum of 7 days before your move date unless specifically agreed otherwise in advance. Do you have specially trained packers? Yes, all our crews undergo specialist packing training modules taught by our own BAR trained instructor and are kept up to date on the latest packing materials and techniques. All our staff are full time employees of Bournes and we do not use temporary packing staff. What size are your removals vehicles? We have an extensive fleet of specially designed removals vehicles ranging from small transit sized packing vans, to 7.5 ton vehicles (about the size of a small dustcart) right up to maximum capacity road trains. We will select the vehicle most suited to your requirements based on the volume of items you would like to be moved and access at both locations. Who arranges parking for removal vehicles on the day of my move? It is your responsibility to arrange adequate parking on the day of your move at both properties to avoid delays and any penalty charges. If you do not have adequate private parking space it is advisable to contact your local council to arrange for permits or for space to be reserved for our vehicle(s). We are happy to advise or arrange all of this on your behalf should you wish as we have the details of all the relevant organisations - just let your move manager know you'd like us to do this for you. We would also suggest letting your neighbors know in advance to avoid any inconvenience to them. What do I have to do on moving day? Either you or a representative will need to be present on move day. When the crew arrive and introduce themselves the team leader will ask you to show him around the property so that he can direct his team and so that you can point out any items for special care or if you have any specific directions you would like to give the crew (i.e. which items are not to be moved, or a room to leave til last). Once the crew have finished packing and loading it will then be your responsibility to check that everything has been removed that you wish to be. Once the move is complete either you or your representative will need to sign the delivery sheet to confirm the move has been completed to your satisfaction. Can you provide temporary storage or long term storage? Yes! At one of our dedicated warehouses we can provide both long and short term storage to meet your requirement both in wooden containers and loose for larger items. We can load a storage container (approx 250cuft) directly into our vehicle to load at your home, seal and transport direct to its location in our warehouse to reduce the handling.
